The Grand Hotel, Birmingham

The Grand Hotel in Birmingham will reopen this summer following a multi-million-pound renovation.

Klasse has been supplying KlasseCLAD™ to this prestigious project for thermal insulation to ductwork and pipework.

The 185 rooms within the Grade II-listed building on Colmore Row are decorated with a mix of French Renaissance, Victorian and Art Deco features.

Original character features throughout the building, including the stone façade, ornate ceilings, mosaic tiled floors and grand staircase, have been restored.

The hotel will gain a lounge, a restaurant, two bars, a gym, and meeting and events spaces.

The renovation has also added penthouse suites with views across the city and a “sunken rooftop garden terrace”.

The property was built in 1879 by Isaac Horton, whose descendants still own it today through the Hortons’ Estate company.

Previous guests have included King George VI, Malcolm X, Charlie Chaplin and Winston Churchill.
