At Klasse, we understand how important it is for project teams to have accurate, accessible product information from the outset.
Our Klasse Gateway 2 product information packs bring together the relevant specifications, technical sheets and supporting product documentation for Klasse products. They are designed to give architects, specifiers, contractors and other project stakeholders a clear, consistent source of information when preparing and reviewing project documentation.
What is Gateway 2?
Gateway 2 is the building control approval stage for higher-risk building work in England. Approval must be obtained from the BSR before relevant construction work begins.
Gateway 2 applies to new higher-risk buildings and certain work to existing higher-risk buildings. Current BSR guidance classifies external remediation to an existing higher-risk building as category A work. The legal definition and requirements should always be checked for the individual project.

What Is Included in a Klasse Gateway 2 Pack?
Each pack is prepared around the Klasse products relevant to an individual project. Depending on the products selected and the documentation available, a pack may include:
- Product specifications
- Technical data sheets
- Product brochures
- Material safety data sheets
- Installation and application guidance
- Performance information
- Available test evidence and certification
- System test information, where applicable
- Details of compatible accessories
- Additional information supplied by our technical team
Bringing this information together in one place makes it easier for project teams to find, review and share the relevant Klasse product documentation.

Common causes of Gateway 2 delays
External wall applications may be delayed when:
- Designs remain at concept stage
- Products or interfaces are undefined
- Evidence is generic or incomplete
- Cavity barrier arrangements are unclear
- Wind-load calculations are missing
- Drainage details are unresolved
- Thermal bridging has not been considered
- Drawings and specifications conflict
- Inspection arrangements are not defined
- Assumptions are unsupported
A strong submission presents one coordinated and traceable explanation of how the proposed wall will comply.
Klasse Products That Can Be Included
Our product range covers multiple elements of the building envelope, from external sheathing boards and rainscreen insulation to membranes, tapes, adhesives and associated accessories.
The contents of each pack can be tailored to the Klasse products being considered for the project.
Klasse G-board® Gypsum External Sheathing Board
Klasse G-board® is a high-density, glass fibre-faced gypsum external sheathing board designed for use with light steel frame, timber frame, modular and other framing systems.
Approximately 30% lighter than traditional cement boards, G-board® can be cut using a knife without the need for power tools, helping to reduce dust and make handling and installation more straightforward.
Key product characteristics include:
- Euroclass A1 reaction-to-fire classification
- GM-H1 classification to BS EN 15283-1
- W1 testing to EN 13859-2
- A nominal size of 2400mm × 1200mm × 12.5mm
- An average weight of no more than 12kg/m²
- A 12-month exposure guarantee
- A 12-year product warranty
G-board® has also been tested within load-bearing and non-load-bearing through-wall systems. Available test data and certificates can be supplied on request.
Klasse C-board® Calcium Silicate Cement External Sheathing Board
Klasse C-board® is a robust calcium silicate cement board developed for demanding external sheathing applications.
The board offers high pull-out, flexural, impact and racking strength. It is classified as a Category A board to BS EN 12467 and is suitable for applications where the board may be exposed to heat, high moisture or severe frost.
C-board® is available in a range of thicknesses and can be used across façade, modular, offsite, flooring, roofing and render applications.
Key characteristics include:
- Euroclass A1 reaction-to-fire classification
- Category A classification to BS EN 12467
- Pull-out strength of 1.8kN
- Thickness options from 6mm to 18mm
- High impact and racking resistance
- Compatibility with leading render systems
- Testing within load-bearing and non-load-bearing through-wall systems
Our team can provide the relevant specifications, technical sheets and available supporting evidence for the proposed C-board® application.
KlasseROCK® Rainscreen Insulation
KlasseROCK® is a BBA-approved stone mineral wool rainscreen insulation designed to support building-envelope performance.
It combines thermal, acoustic and fire-performance characteristics with rigid, water-repellent boards that retain their integrity during installation.
Key characteristics include:
- Euroclass A1 reaction-to-fire classification
- Thermal conductivity of 0.035W/mK
- Densities ranging from 50kg/m³ to 120kg/m³
- Thicknesses ranging from 40mm to 200mm
- A standard board size of 1000mm × 600mm
- Water-repellent, rot-proof and odourless construction
- BBA third-party accreditation
KlasseROCK® product specifications and available supporting documentation can be included alongside our sheathing-board information to provide a clearer picture of the proposed Klasse product selection.
KlasseWRAP® Fire-Retardant Membranes
Our KlasseWRAP® fire-retardant membrane range is designed for façade applications, helping to protect the building envelope from wind-driven rain and water ingress while remaining breathable.
The range includes:
- KlasseWRAP® KW015 fire-retardant breather membrane
- KlasseBOND® KB001 double-sided fire-retardant bonding tape
- KlasseBOND® KB003 UV-resistant fire-retardant jointing tape
Relevant membrane specifications, test information and details of associated tapes can be included within a Klasse project pack.
KlasseSEAL® Interface Sealing Membranes
KlasseSEAL® KS007 is a high-strength interface sealing membrane used externally around glazed units, including windows and doors.
The membrane is airtight, watertight and permanently UV-resistant. It can also be used to seal horizontal and vertical linear joints between sheathing boards and the main structure.
KlasseSEAL® KS007 is designed to be used with KlasseBOND® KB025 fire-retardant membrane adhesive, helping to create a continuous weather and airtight barrier around structural openings and façade interfaces.
The relevant product specifications, application information and details of compatible materials can be provided within the project pack.
Clearer Product Information From One Manufacturer
Using multiple building-envelope products from the same manufacturer can make it easier to obtain consistent product information and technical support.
A tailored Klasse Gateway 2 pack can help project teams:
- Review proposed Klasse products
- Access relevant product information from one source
- Share consistent documentation across the project
- Identify compatible Klasse products and accessories
- Reduce time spent locating separate technical documents
- Raise product-specific questions earlier
- Maintain a clearer record of the manufacturer information supplied
The pack provides product information only. It does not constitute project-specific design, regulatory or legal advice, guarantee approval or replace assessment by the project’s appointed and competent parties.
How can Klasse support your project?
Klasse works with architects, specifiers, contractors and developers to support safe, practical and well-evidenced building-envelope solutions.
Our range includes external sheathing boards, KlasseROCK® rainscreen insulation, interface sealing membranes and fire-retardant membranes.
